All I Want For Christmas Is Yu

The MLB Commissioner's Office announced that the Texas Rangers have won the right to negotiate with Japanese phenom Yu Darvish. The Rangers won the bidding with an insane bid of 51.7 Million. That is not the contract! That is the price just to negotiate with the star. The Rangers now have 30 days to work out a deal with the right hander. If they come to an agreement, the Rangers will need to send over a cheque of 51.7 Million dollars to the Nippon Ham Fighters of the NPB in a one time payment.

Darvish, 6"5 220lbs, is a stud in Japan. The 51.7 Million posting fee exceeds the 51.1 Million the Red Sox paid to negotiate with Daisuke Matsuzaka back in 2006 making it the largest ever bid in the history of the Posting System. Darvish, 25, went 18-6 with a 1.44 ERA this past year in Japan. It will be very interesting to see how Mr. Darvish fares in the Major Leagues. Only time will tell...
