Breaking news out of Montreal that Canadiens head coach Jacques Martin has been fired. Assistant coach Randy Cunneyworth has been named the interim head coach. After a tough start to the season, Habs fans have wanted Martin fired. That day has finally come and to tell you the truth, my bet is that most of habsland is happy to hear the news. There have been many reports from inside sources saying that the players were not happy with Jacques' system and felt as if there was a lack of communication between Martin and his young stars. Habs fans rejoice, Martin is finally gone. Assistant GM Larry Carriere will step behind the bench for a few games and act as an assistant coach. When GM Pierre Gauthier finds Jacques permanent replacement, Cunneyworth will move back to assistant coach while Carriere will shift back to the pressbox.
